Monitoring methodology

PingCare checks from its configured host. Same-host confirmation can reduce noise, but does not provide independent regional coverage. A total failure of that host requires an external watchdog.

Does every check use a monitor slot?

Yes. Independently scheduled HTTP and DNS checks use separate slots. SSL and domain metadata attached to an HTTP monitor do not add hidden slots.

Is this multi-region monitoring?

The initial architecture uses one configured host. Independent regional probes are planned and are not included as a launch promise.

Can I start paying now?

No. The catalogue contains proposed CAD defaults. Registration and upgrades are gated until capacity is measured and the owner completes setup.

What does uptime mean here?

Use the methodology page to understand detection intervals, maintenance, missing data and confirmation. An unrun check is unknown; it is not a successful response.

A check records one observation at a moment in time. Detection delay includes the scheduled interval, queue delay, timeout and confirmation. Maintenance is identified separately. Missing or stale data must not be converted into successful time. Historical success-count ratios in the legacy app are not equivalent to time-weighted uptime; commercial reporting must finish its historical-methodology review before launch.
